La Salle Women's Rugby is college side based out of North Philadelphia. We're a member of the Eastern Pennsylvania Rugby Union (EPRU) and the Mid Atlantic Rugby Football Union.
LSWR was founded in 2002 by an intrepid group of young women. Since the fall of 2004 LSWR has advanced to the EPRU playoffs every year. In 2006 LSWR came in second place in the D-IV competition, earning promotion to D-III. In 2007 they repeated the feat by finishing second in D-III, earning the right to compete in the DII competition. LSWR members have successfully represented the club as part of the EPRU and MARFU U23 teams. LSWR members come to rugby from a variety of sport, geographic and cultural backgrounds. We're active across campus as RAs, student workers, members of student organizations and part of community service projects. Our majors vary from education, to accounting, to nursing and social work. We come together around rugby, priding ourselves on hard work, determination, dedication, friendship, and most importantly fun! |

La Salle Women's Rugby will begin practicing Tuesday, August 26th, interested players should meet outside of the Haymen Center by 4pm. The team will open their season playing in Philadelphia WRFC's Pumpkinfest, September 6th and 7th at Pennypack Park. League play begins September 13th, with La Salle at Kutztown University. Maria Muscara has been invited to play with the Midwest 7s team this weekend in Chicago. She came to the attention of coach Mark Santiago after an impressive showing in a midwest 7s tournament. This weekend's tournament will act as a warmup for the 7s National All Star Championships. Most TUs will be sending teams to compete in this tournament, providing fierce competition. We wish her the best of luck! |

The 2008 fall Rugby season has yet to start and La Salle University’s Women’s Rugby team is already having one of their best seasons ever. On July 3, the team was notified that they had received a grant for $20,000 toward Nike merchandise from the Let Me Play foundation, a global movement by Nike that caters specifically to female projects that promote “human potential through sport.” A freshman member of the team saw this opportunity online during the spring semester, and jumped on it right away. |

Four Players Represent LSWR During MARFU U23 Event |

Four LSWR players were invited to participate in the MARFU U23s developmental weekend, April 25-27. The weekend gives promising young players an opportunity to play with other people and become familiar the MARFU U23 game plan, while facing club level competition. MARFU competed in the social bracket of the DC Furies's Ruggerfest tournament, winning both their pool games on Saturday. On Sunday they lost in the semi finals to the Maryland Stingers, a DI women's club team.
