La Salle Participates in MLK Day of Service
Community Service
Monday, 19 January 2009 23:18

Members of La Salle Women's Rugby were back in Philly on Monday doing service in honor of Martin Luther King Day.  LSWR helped clean and paint at the Chalmers Park recreation center located in the Allegheny West section of North Philadelphia. Members of the team helped clean the recreation center's exterior, raking leaves, picking up trash etc. Other members picked up a brush and helped paint in a variety of areas.

The chilly day and snow showers weren't an issue for the Explorers. Working with volunteers from the local neighborhood, various suburbs and parts of New Jersey, the girls were able to lend a helping hand to an important cause. Despite the tough economic times the local civic associations are looking to redevelop the considerable facilities at Chalmers Park in order to provide a variety of programs to enrich the community.

La Salle Taking it to the Next Level-Collegian

The men’s and women’s rugby teams are under new leadership this season, as both teams hired new coaches over the summer. Lou Gana, the head coach of the men’s team, looks to take the team to new territory, while Head coach Ali El-Kerdi looks to keep the winning tradition here with the women’s team. See the entire story here.
