La Salle Women's Rugby (LSWR) and Temple Women's Rugby Football Club (TWRFC) will be host an exciting evening of MARFU playoff action on March 20th. Temple and La Salle battled twice in the fall, with La Salle winning the regular season meeting. Temple claimed the EPRU championship by holding off a late La Salle surge in the EPRU championship game. The teams will cohost their quarterfinal matches at McCarthy Stadium, located on La Salle University's Philadelphia Campus. The playoff action kicks off at 5pm as Temple faces George Washington University. At 7pm La Salle University defends its home field against Mary Washington University.

Directions to McCarthy Stadium can be found here: http://www.lasallewomensrugby.org/index.php/component/content/article/66-mccarthystadiumdirections

Temple Women's Rugby Football Club (TWRFC) was founded in 1995. The club grew from a team struggling to field 15 players each Saturday to a national powerhouse in a few years’ time. In 2004 the team advanced to MARFU playoffs for the first time in it's history and went on to win the USA Rugby DII National Championship. In 2005 they were crowned MARFU champions and fell just short of their second USA Rugby DII National Championship. The club has developed numerous select side players. Vanesha McGee, Elise Meyer, Emily Tunney and Angelia Marfsi were proud Owls before they represented the US internationally.

La Salle Women's Rugby (LSWR) was founded in 2002 by an intrepid group of young women. Since the fall of 2004 LSWR has advanced to the EPRU playoffs every year. In 2006 LSWR came in second place in the D-IV competition, earning promotion to D-III. In 2007 we repeated the feat by finishing second in D-III, earning the right to compete in the D-II competition. 2008/2009 saw the team reach new heights, as they qualified for the D-II USA Rugby National Playoffs, finishing top 12 in the country. LSWR members have successfully represented the club as part of the EPRU U23 team, MARFU U23 team, Atlantis 7s team and have been selected for All American Honors.

La Salle Taking it to the Next Level-Collegian

The men’s and women’s rugby teams are under new leadership this season, as both teams hired new coaches over the summer. Lou Gana, the head coach of the men’s team, looks to take the team to new territory, while Head coach Ali El-Kerdi looks to keep the winning tradition here with the women’s team.
