LSWR traveled to the DC area to face D1 American in a non league match. The Explorers came away with a 25-0 win, aided by two tries from sophomore fullback Brittany Mckenna.

La Salle Opens League Season With a Shutout of Kutztown, 27-0 PDF Print E-mail

LSWR began their EPRU league schedule with a sound 27 to 0 victory over Kutztown University. Five different players scored in a total team effort. La Salle was succesfull despite being without hooker Donelle Smith (injury) and Center/Wing Maria Muscara (previous commitment.) Next up for the Explorers is a non league match vs DI American University.

La Salle Goes 2-2 at Pumpkinfest PDF Print E-mail

LSWR kicked off it's fall 2008 campaign by going 2-2 at Pumpkinfest. The Club lost a close game, 12-0, to the University of Maryland on Saturday before regrouping for an amazing Sunday of rugby. La Salle went 2-1 on Sunday besting the University of Buffalo before losing a very physical, hard fought game to Navy. A mere hour after playing Navy, La Salle rebounded to beat EPRU rival the University of Pennsylvania in decisive fashion.

La Salle Women’s Rugby Team Starts Off a Great Year With a Nike Grant of $20,000. PDF Print E-mail

The 2008 fall Rugby season has yet to start and La Salle University’s Women’s Rugby team is already having one of their best seasons ever.

On July 3, the team was notified that they had received a grant for $20,000 toward Nike merchandise from the Let Me Play foundation, a global movement by Nike that caters specifically to female projects that promote “human potential through sport.” A freshman member of the team saw this opportunity online during the spring semester, and jumped on it right away.

The Coillegian La Salle's student run newspaper released an article about LSWR's nike sponorship last week. You can now read the article online.

"The women’s rugby team at La Salle received a $20,000 grant from Nike over the summer from the company’s Let Me Play Foundation. In the last two years, according to letmeplay.com, Nike has invested $100 million world-wide through the organization. The women’s rugby team will benefit from the foundation this year, after winning grand prize in an essay contest."

La Salle Women's Rugby will begin practicing Tuesday, August 26th, interested players should meet outside of the Haymen Center by 4pm. LSWR will be practicing at the Wister Woods, the corner of Lindley and Ogontz. The team will open their season playing in Philadelphia WRFC's Pumpkinfest, September 6th and 7th at Pennypack Park. League play begins September 13th, with La Salle at Kutztown University. Please see the schedule page for updates on kickoff time, venues and directions.
